There are thousands of varieties of roses grown either as domesticated plants or the ones that grow wildly. Roses are the ultimate attraction of humans as far as the flowers are concerned. There are roses that are climbers, while others are shrubs. There are varieties of roses grown in different parts of the world. The most common variety of roses is the shrub roses. These roses are generally a couple of feet tall to up to five feet in height. The different varieties of shrub roses are the Hybrid Moyessi shrub roses. These shrub roses are tall and strong and the sub-categories in these are the marguerite Hilling Rose, Geranium Rose, and Nevada rose to name, among others.

Another variety of the shrub roses are the Hybrid Shrub musk roses. The hybrid shrub musk roses are not that tolerant of the sun. These varieties of roses bushes are every fragrant and bloom throughout the year. The various sub-categories are the Ballerina Rose, Buff beauty rose and the Lavender Lassie rose.


The third variety of shrub bush is the hybrid Rugosas shrub roses. These varieties of shrub roses are very hardy as far as the resistance to diseases is concerned. These roses are low in height and have full foliage. The rose hips are valued as an excellent source of vitamin C. These roses are tolerant of wind and spray of salty seawater and hence are excellent plants to be planted on the sides of the sea beaches. Some of the subcategories are the Rosa Rugosa Al, Therese Bugnet rose and the foxy rose among others.

Another variety of the shrub roses are the Kordesii shrub roses. Kordesii shrub rose are a hybrid variety of roses that was created by a German botanist Reimer Kordes in the year 1952. These are low growing climbers with superb resistance to the diseases and elements of weather like hard lasing rains and hard sun’s rays. The sub-categories are the William Baffin Rose, John Cabot rose Dortmund rose and john Davies rose.


Roses are used for aesthetic and for the purposes of fragrance. These are at times consumed as edibles as well. Rose water extracted from rose is used for cosmetic purposes.

Among the most widely known roses are the English roses, this breed was developed by an English breeder with the name David Austin. These roses are called as the Austin roses by many rose lovers. The sub-categories are the Mary Rose, Graham Thomas rose, golden celebration rose, and the Princess Margareta rose.

The varieties of roses found in Australia are the Grand siècle rose; these grow in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. Another breed that grows in Australia is the Pierre De Ronsard that is suitable for Mediterranean climates as found in the South of Australia. These are climbers and produce large blooms and in color are from soft blush to mid pink. Sally's homes are another breed that grows in Australia. It has a light scent and blooms all year long it has an apricot shaped bud that upon bloom becomes white.
